Students came in droves Monday for the start of the 2010-11 school year at The Varnett Public School.
Parents escorted their children to classes where they were greeted by teachers who were eager to introduce themselves and show off their neatly, organized classrooms.
As some students were finding their place, others didn't waste time settling in and putting pencil to paper.
Before long, some classrooms were in full gear as teachers launched into their lesson plans. Students settled into the routine as they lined up for lunch and were entertained by the images on the large DirecTV screens in the multi-purpose rooms.
Some students even braved the suffocating heat for a short recess.
