TORO, the official mascot of the Houston Texans, and his sidekick entertained Varnett's Northeast students and fired them up for the STAAR tests that start next week.
The 45-minute event also featured a video of former Texans wide receiver Cecil Shorts III, who likened preparing for the STAAR test to preparing for a football game.
Here's the storyline: TORO at first is afraid of the word "Test" but is later encouraged by his friends at NRG that the tests are nothing to be afraid of at all.
