Cheerleaders at The Varnett Public School proved recently that their excellence is no fluke.
After dominating in a cheerleading competition in early April, they did it again on April 30, 2020, at Worthing High School.
The Southwest campus team placed first in both categories of grades K-3 and 4-6. They also won the Overall Grand Champions for Cheer and Overall Judges Choice for Choreography. Varnett's Northeast campus cheerleaders earned second place in the K-3 competition.
In all, eight teams participated in the event hosted by the I AM Dance Studio at Worthing.
The Southwest K-3 team was led by co-captains Kaelie Thibodeaux and Lailah Mackie. Captain Aniya Smith, a seventh-grader, and co-captains Hannah Hagan and Jazelle Adams, both fourth-graders, led the 4-6 team.
On April 2, 2022, Varnett's cheerleaders captured two first-place and two second-place trophies in the Ross Shaw Sterling High School Cheerleading Competition.
Congratulations, again, to our cheerleading teams and their hard-working and dedicated coaches!
