Field Day fun a week before classes end

Students unleashed lots of energy at the Southwest Campus playground during a Field Day event that signals the school year is about to end.

Nearly 1,800 students engaged in various activities ranging from tug-a-wars to hoola hooping as parents and staff joined the fun.

Next week will be filled with graduation ceremonies for PreK-4 and 5th grade students from all three campuses. The last day of school is Thursday, May 31.

Varnett staff wishes everybody a safe and productive summer. Summer school will be held at the Southwest and East campuses Monday through Friday, June 11-29, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Northeast Campus students will go to the East Campus. Summer school will not be an open enrollment program but by invitation only.

Don't forget that the 2012-13 school year for students starts on Monday, August 27.
