It's rodeo time!
Nearly 1,300 Varnett charter school students are gearing up for the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo at NRG Park starting next week.
They will have plenty of company. More than 140 Varnett staff and nearly 675 parent chaperones will be on hand when the students visit the rodeo March 3-10. Buses will leave the campuses at 8:30 a.m. and will return at 1:30 p.m.
More than 3,000 riders from 13 trail rides were converging in Houston today for the event. The riders will take part in the downtown parade on Saturday.
The annual rodeo features food, livestock, carnival rides, concerts and more.
