Perfect attendance pays off.
Fifty Southwest Pre-K students today received a medallion, certificate, snow cone and popcorn for attending every day of school during the fourth, six-week period of classes.
Some were also given hand- or face-painted tattoos in an informal event attended by a handful of parents.
The recognition of the students came three days after Southwest and Southwest Pre-K hosted a Parent Empowerment Conference that emphasized the importance of early childhood attendance.
"We try to do something different each time to reward the students," said Mrs. Cheyne Brown, the campus director. "By coming to school every day, they get the full benefit of the early educational experience. With parental support, it helps them get ready for kindergarten."
