Aerospace S.T.E.A.M. Academy for middle schoolers
The Aerospace S.T.E.A.M. Academy is an opportunity for 6th-8th grade students at The Varnett Public School to engage in hands-on, project-based learning of Aerospace curriculum through a S.T.E.A.M. (science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics) approach.
The Aerospace curriculum will use scientific methods as its foundation of project exploration while integrating math, reading and writing content with science content. Students will engage in a self-paced curriculum -- with integrated checkpoints -- on the topics of force, pressure, energy, gravity, flight, and speaking skills.
The goal is for students to have a unique experience with the aerospace curriculum. To support experiential learning, the Aerospace S.T.E.A.M. Academy will consist of multiple projects throughout the school year that will require planning, experimenting, data collection, presentation of results and reflection.
Throughout the Aerospace S.T.E.A.M. Academy studies, students will develop normalcy for critical thinking, risk-taking and problem-solving. We at The Varnett Public School want to inspire our diverse population of 21st-century future S.T.E.A.M. leaders. The Aerospace S.T.E.A.M. Academy allows opportunities for students to be inspired, empowered and innovative.
