Southeast chess team members practice during tournament hosted by The Varnett Public School Saturday. The team captured a third-place trophy in event that attracted representatives from 42 schools.

The Southeast chess team won a third-place trophy and Kenyan, a fifth-grader, placed third in individual honors.
